Healthy Holiday Tips
Gift Giving comes in many ways…it can be a gift you hold, feel and touch. It can be spoken words that are heard, felt and uplifting. It can also be a picture or words that are seen, felt and inspirational.
During the holiday season, I encourage you to be open to receive all that gifts that are given to you every day.
My gift to you is 3 tips for a healthier, happier holiday season!
Imagine a holiday season where you feel alive, energetic and happy to get through the holidays without gaining a pound!
Follow these tips and you will feel a difference.
-
Move More – Sit Less. It makes a huge difference in how you feel when you move your body more often. During the holidays this becomes a challenge when we fall out of our regular routine. Try to schedule your workouts in between social activities and time with your family. Remind yourself how good you’ll feel afterward. Try incorporating exercise into your family time by saying “Yes!” when your kids ask you to go outside and play street hockey or go tobogganing. Or commit to going for a walk after dinner every evening...every little step counts!
-
Drink 3 Litres of water a day. Drinking water will help with fatigue during the busy season. If you are reaching for more caffeine to get you through the day, try water instead. Water also fills you up so you don’t consume as many calories. This is helpful when there are extra temptations to eat more calories than your body needs. Water helps eliminate headaches and dry mouth caused by drinking alcohol. Try having a glass of water with every meal or carry around a water bottle and commit to filling it throughout the day.
- Eat Often! Even Christmas Day! Don’t starve yourself all day to enjoy the Big meal…eat every 3 hours and still enjoy your Christmas Dinner (less of it) and then enjoy it again in another few hours. Eating often is what keeps your body revved up as a fat burning machine, so keep it going all day with proper portions! Most often when we know we are going to have a big meal or attend a Christmas Party we tend to starve ourselves all day for the meal/party we’re having later…keep it simple, eat less often!
I encourage you to print these tips and follow them every day…it just takes practice to make them an everyday part of a healthier you.
Wishing you the Healthiest and Happiest Holiday Season!!
